SPOT THE SHADES
If
you've thought Australian truck drivers are looking a little trendier
these days, perhaps their shades have something to do with it.
And more than likely they're wearing a pair of Spotters Polarised Sunglasses.
Melbourne-based Spotters Shades Pty Ltd has released a new range of
these polarised sunglasses, and the company believes they're just what
the Australian truck driver has been crying out for.
Australian-made
With a variety of lenses available, including Bronze Penetrator, Gray
and Blue Mirror, these Australian-made sunglasses are already popular
in the sporting world.
A number of truckies were recently hand-picked to trial these new Spotters
Polarised Sunglasses - and they've given the shades the thumbs up.
Linfox driver Craig Wright says he wished he had been wearing the Spotters
since he started driving trucks over four years ago.
"I have noticed a real difference
after a full day of driving," Craig said. "My
eyes don't feel sore or tired any more."
"When I first tried them I thought
that they were doing something to my eyes, because I could see a lot
better," Craig said, who particularly appreciated
the Spotters in adverse weather conditions.
"When coming out of Albury first
thing in the morning there's a lot of fog and glare, but the glasses
reduce the glare and make driving a lot safer and easier.
"They're incredible when driving in the
rain because they highlight everything and reduce all the glare, especially
from the wet, shiny roads," he said.
After looking at the Spotters catalogue, Craig chose the imposingly-named
Penetrator lenses - which should enhance his stud value. These
glass high-contrast photochromic lenses darken, adapting to changing
light conditions as required, with particular enhancement in low light
conditions.
As Good As You Get
Another Linfox driver, Steve Gorman, admitted to being skeptical at
first when told about the sunglasses.
"I thought 'yeah,' but I have to say
that the Spotters Penetrators are as good as you get.
"The problem with all the other glasses I've
had is that you would be driving down the road and it would be glary,"
Steve said. "So you'd put on your sunglasses
and then it would be too dark, and you'd have to take them off again.
There doesn't seem to be anywhere in between.
"But with Spotters Penetrators, they adapt
to the changing light conditions. When I drove from Tumut in the morning,
it was snowing," he explained.
"the glare was incredible... until I put on my Penetrators.
I could see ten times better."
Spotters Sunglasses are said to be popular with anglers, being able
to eliminate water surface glare as well as protecting against salt
spray and ultraviolet rays. The transport industry folks look
set to follow the trend. TL
